You can request a repeat prescription by using our Repeat Prescription form, via your nominated pharmacy or on the NHS app.
You can also change your nominated pharmacy on the NHS app.
We aim to process all requests within 48 to 72 hours.
We process most prescriptions electronically - this helps save the NHS money.

Prescription Pre-Payment Certificates
If you have repeat prescriptions you might save money by purchasing a pre-payment certificate. Pre-payment certificates are available online.
There is also a specific certificate for hormone replacement therapies HRT) available.
Not all benefits entitle you to free prescriptions.

We will not generally issue a prescription for medicines that that are available to purchase over the counter

Your GP will not generally give you a prescription for ‘over the counter medicines’ for a range of common health issues, such as hay fever or a cold.
Over the counter medicines are available to buy in a local pharmacy or supermarket.
Please help the NHS to use resources sensibly.
Shared care prescribing
Please note that we do not participate in shared care with secondary providers. This includes medications such as: ADHD treatments, Methotrexate and Warfarin. We will inform you and your specialist if we are unable to issue your prescription.
